These cars linger in a limbo — no longer able to fulfill their purpose, not yet ready to disappear. They hold memory. They wait. They are not abandoned. But they also serve as a cautionary tale: nature overcomes any human-built artefact when it is left at the mercy of the elements.

A Zeiss Ikonta 521/2 — 1949, or thereabouts. No film index. No focus aid. No viewfinder. No light meter. Sunny 16, and faith. It belonged to a friend's grandfather. A CLA and some care brought it back. Seventy-five years after being commissioned, it still sees.
